February 27, 2027 | Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis Health, Sacramento

Yes2Kollege Educational Resources, with Host Sponsor Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis Health, invites you to join The Sugars: Getting Real About Diabetes, a community and professional health conference focused on prevention, access, and equity for Sacramento County residents who are often excluded from traditional health services.

Diabetes affects nearly 11% of adults in Sacramento County, and related risk factors, including obesity, physical inactivity, and heart disease, are even more prevalent (California Health Interview Survey, 2023; Sacramento County Public Health, 2023; CDC, 2024).

This one-day conference offers community members and caregivers health screenings, plain-language education, and hands-on resources, and provides nurses, physicians, and other health professionals with a full Professional CEU Track featuring accredited continuing education.

featuring Keynote Speaker

Dr. Tony Iton, MD, JD, MPH

Dr. Iton currently serves as CEO of The Health Trust, a private charitable foundation. He previously served as Senior Vice President for Healthy Communities at The California Endowment, where he was the principal architect of the landmark $2 billion, 10-year Building Healthy Communities initiative, one of the nation's greatest philanthropic efforts of its kind.

He previously served as Senior Vice President for Healthy Communities at The California Endowment, where he was the principal architect of the landmark $2 billion, 10-year Building Healthy Communities initiative, one of the nation's largest philanthropic efforts of its kind.

Before that, Dr. Iton served as Director and Health Officer at the Alameda County Public Health Department, where he pioneered research showing that a ZIP code is a stronger predictor of life expectancy than genetic code. That work has shaped national conversations about the social determinants of health.

Dr. Iton holds an MD from Johns Hopkins University, a JD and an MPH from UC Berkeley, and a BS in Neurophysiology from McGill University. He is a Lecturer in Health Policy and Management at UC Berkeley's School of Public Health.
