In this presentation, Sharon shares her unique message of suffering a near fatal miscarriage and her concerns about her health and the health of the fetus being discounted by her physician. This experience propelled her to educate African American women to advocate for themselves and see the importance of being treated by healthcare professionals who listen to their concerns and take them seriously. Attendees will understand the impact their personal biases have on patients' health outcomes and learn strategies to better connect and communicate with African American female patients.
As the healthcare landscape evolves, promoting diversity and inclusion in healthcare professions is more critical than ever before.
